Application

Who Should Apply?

Junior faculty, with a background in clinical or basic science from any US institution whose research goals address Neurorehabilitation or restoration of chronic disabling neurological disorders. In particular, we encourage applications from postdocs/clinical fellows who are beginning their faculty appointment and individuals in the earlier portions of their Assistant Professor years. 

Do I need to submit an NIH Biosketch with my application?

Yes, please include a current NIH biographical sketch.

Should I include my reference letters when submitting my application?

Reference letters should be sent separately and should be sent directly from your referee. Institutional support commitment from your department chair or dean should be included with the application document.

Do references count as part of the 5 page requirement?

Reference citations do not count as part of the 5 page requirement.

Expectations of the Program

What does NTRAIN expect of me as a scholar?

  • Expectations of your training include attendance at bi-annual meetings – American Society for Neurorehabilitation and NTRAIN East Coast meeting, acknowledgement of NTRAIN support, and participation in other NTRAIN events as requested.  These travel and meeting costs are part of your NTRAIN budget. 
  • Your participation as feasible in NTRAIN events even beyond your funded years, particularly mentoring NTRAIN scholars who come after you. 
  • At least 75% effort devoted to your  research and professional development
  • Strong institutional support
  • Strong professional development and training plan

What do I get from NTRAIN?

We provide the strongest possible interdisciplinary mentorship and training for early career development of faculty research scholars. As part of your training you will receive:

  • Salary support setting aside 75% effort for two years, plus a small amount of funding for your research and NTRAIN-related travel
