Dario Martelli, PhD

Dr. Dario Martelli, Senior Research Scientist at the Department of Orthopedics and Sport Medicine at the Medstar Health Research Institute and Director of the Innovation in Motion Laboratory at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, also serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC).

His research interests lie in the areas of assistive robotics and biomechanics of human movement. He completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Biomedical Engineering at University of Pisa, Italy, his Ph.D. degree in Biorobotics at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, Italy, and his Postdoctoral training at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Columbia University, NY. Prior to joining MedStar, he was an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama.
