Current Brain Injury Medicine Fellow
Adil Hussain, DO
Brain Injury Medicine Fellow
The fellowship will provide an additional year of training to develop skills necessary for the management of patients with traumatic brain injury, anoxic brain injury, stroke, brain tumors and other causes of acquired brain injury. Fellows will be exposed to patients who require acute inpatient rehabilitation and long-term outpatient management. In addition to extensive experience on the inpatient rehabilitation units at MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital, the fellow has the opportunity to do rotations at both MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Georgetown in neurocritical care, neurorehabilitation and various neurological subspecialties. The fellow will have a year-long continuity clinic in which they will be able to manage patients with various degrees of disability and chronicity. There is substantial training in spasticity management and concussion evaluations and care.
The fellow will also have the opportunity to work closely and train with the neuropsychology staff and its postdoctoral candidates. Research is required during the one-year fellowship.
We will participate in the National Brain Injury Match. See the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) website under “Rehabilitation Medicine Match” for additional details.
We will be participating in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The program is open to applicants who are board certified or board eligible in physical medicine and rehabilitation or neurology.
