DC Sled Sharks Heading to National in April!

The MedStar NRN sled hockey team aka DC Sled Sharks recently won their playoffs at the Delaware Valley Hockey League in Aston, PA . “This is the first time our team has taken first place since we started! says Joan Joyce, Director of Therapeutic Recreation and Community Outreach at MedStar NRN. The team is heading to Nationals in April.

The DC Sled Sharks is a junior sled hockey team, competing in the Delaware Valley Hockey League. Players range in age from 4 to 18 yr old. The program offers developmental and competitive opportunities for children interested in the sport. During season (September to March) the team practices weekly at Kettler’s Ice Plex in Arlington VA, the same rink used for practice by the Washington Capitals. Off season (June to August), the team practices once a month to recruit new players! The coaches are certified USA Hockey coaches, with additional training in Disabled Hockey. Sleds, sticks and hockey equipment are provided at no cost.
