Katherine Power, MD Announced as Associate Program Director of Cancer Rehabilitation Fellowship

Katherine Power, MD has been named associate program director of the MedStar NRN-GUH Cancer Rehabilitation fellowship. The fellowship program gives physiatrists expertise in the functional, musculoskeletal, and neuromuscular complications of cancer and cancer treatment. In her new role, Dr. Power will help to augment the program as well as provide education of future cancer rehabilitation fellows and NRH residents.
Dr. Power grew up in New Jersey and became interested in medicine when she volunteered on a service trip to Honduras while still in high school. She then attended the College of the Holy Cross where she studied biology, graduating with a liberal arts degree. After a post-baccalaurette year at the University of Pennsylvania she attended medical school at St. George’s University. She returned to the hospital where she was born – Jersey Shore University Hospital – for her internal medicine intern year.
She completed her physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York followed by a cancer rehabilitation fellowship at Georgetown University/National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington DC. After graduation she was excited to stay on as a cancer rehabilitation physician thereby expanding the access for the MedStar oncology patients.
